To start the New Year, today's theme is Sydney's iconic ANZAC Bridge. Opened in 1995, the ANZAC Bridge carries 8 lane of traffic, it is the longest cable-stayed bridge in Australia, stretching 805 metres, with a main span of 345 metres, and towers reaching up to 120 metres high.

The bridge was named to honour the memory of the soldiers of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (known as Anzacs) who served in World War I. An Australian Flag flies atop the eastern pylon and a New Zealand Flag flies atop the western pylon. A bronze memorial statue of an Australian Anzac soldier stands on the western end of the bridge. Opposite him, a statue of a New Zealand soldier stands facing towards the east.
I took this photo looking up from the pedestrian walkway on the eastern side of the bridge.

On this 31st day of December, 2024, my final theme for the year is "Last gasps". When I first visited China in 2015, we were told there was no air pollution in China, what we were seeing, and experiencing, was mist. I gasped at the view from the Great Wall through the veil of mist. Fortunately, it was not my last gasp.
