The Selfoss waterfall, approx 1 km up from Dettifoss. The water comes from Vatnajökul, the biggest glacier in Europe, and passes a landscape formed by ash-spewing volcanoes. That is why the water is sandy, it is almost black, and the constant abrasive effect the transported material causes, makes the rocks completely devoid of any vegetation.
