Apparently this model was made between 1980 - 1981, just before the company went bankrupt, although I'm not even sure if it was actually made by Rollei, since I've seen some similar cameras under different brand names. I pretty much picked this one up because the Rollei name was stamped on it, and a 38mm f/2.8 sounded like it would be okay. What I know for sure, is that is is very 80's; i.e. very plasticky.

From a quick test roll, the Rolleimat AF takes decent photos, although the focusing system on mine is quite quirky; I point the center focus square on my subject, half press the shutter to measure the distance, but the distance indicator often locks at the wrong symbol, so I have to repeat the procedure several times to get it right. Other than that, the exposure system is working okay, and the camera takes common AA batteries.

June 2nd, 2019, update: I was trying to shoot a second roll on this and the shutter jammed. Upon opening the camera, little pieces of plastic fell off, so the camera is dead now :( Rest in peace Rolleimat AF.
