The Meikai EL is a very simple camera, with two shutter speeds (around 1/100th and 1/60th?), three apertures (f/8, f/11, f/16?), and fixed focus. It's pretty much a point and shoot with cute little symbols meant for sunny days or to be used with flash. From what I read, it was sold at stationary and toy stores, so I guess it fits the toy/novelty category.

After shooting this test roll, I actually think the built quality is decent, with a mixture of sturdy plastic and metal. The lens itself is a 50mm, which I think is cool for a point and shoot, different from the 35mm standard on most other point and shoots, and the quality of the photos is much better than I was expecting. It's not totally soft, and I do get some cool effects, like lens flares, and since the camera is old, a few light leaks here and there from deteriorating seals.
