Every autumn I collect dozens of sacks of leaves, tie them up and leave them for 6-12 months.

This is the result, good stuff for "earthing up" my spuds

my soil is sandy & alkaline, and so my spuds always get scab.

Now, I dig out the soil and refill with leafmould, and grow the spuds in that.
