Binibeca - Menorca - Just back from a weeks family holiday in Menorca with kids and grandkids, a lovely time, but unfortunately for photography, not as many flowers in the villa's garden as there were in last years at Ille de Re, so not so many species seen. On our first day I did spot this tiny butterfly on some wasteland backing on to the garden. A couple were around for 2 or 3 days on this plant - thereafter seen dashing around but not landing.

Binibeca - Menorca - There were often a couple of these in the trees around the villa, they never really showed themselves totally in the open, and also I had left my longer lens at home as I was really hoping for butterflies, so they were usually a bit distant.

Binibeca - Minorca - I hadn't seen these before, but apparently there have been sightings in the UK. Also known as the Minstrel bug, or the Italian striped bug (the latter being quite appropriate as they look as if they are kitted out in AC Milan shirts!!!)

Illa del Rei, Menorca - lots of these lizards on the Illa del Rei, a small island in the harbour of Port Mahon which contains a former British Military hospital built in the 18th century

Binibeca - Menorca - another of the only really obliging non UK butterfly I saw. We did have a Cleopatra in the Villas garden, I saw it flying close up ,and clearly saw the orange wing blotches, however when it landed it was in the hedge hanging under a leaf with wings closed.
