NB: found and photographed in the wild.
I thought how pretty these pearl oyster mushrooms were with their soft, gentle colours and delicate frills/gills. Here they are, after being harvested, resting on the tree where they had been found.
Pearl oyster mushrooms are an edible fungi; one of the most widely consumed mushrooms around the globe.
The common name comes from their oyster-shaped cap and very short (or completely absent) stem.
In a natural environment, one can find oyster mushrooms in autumn, as these were, in south-west Pennsylvania.
These caps were small, no bigger than 6 cm diameter.

A colourful addition to my Chlorophytum comosum - these little bright yellow mushrooms have been popping up from the soil recently and I decided to document their growth and development.
Top left to top right then bottom left to bottom right.
Saprophytic in nature, living off well decayed plant matter. Stem 4cm in height, cap when fully opened 5cm.
Inedible and poisonous if consumed.
I understand the presence of this fungus does no harm to the houseplant.

Friday's fungi....within Arne nature reserve in southern England, an impressive show of large shelf fungi on this dead (but still standing) tall tree.
Could this be a beech tree and these Ganoderma sp. fungi.
I estimate each one was 30 cm or so in diameter.

I came upon these two yellow fly agaric mushrooms that had fused at the caps. An alliance and amalgamation.
This is specifically Amanita muscaria var. guessowii, native to the north-east of America.
The caps here were around 10 cm in diameter.
