Detail 1935 Auburn 851 Speedster held at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, Hampshire, England.
Auburn Automobile in the USA produced some of my all time favourite Speedster cars from the 20s and 30s.
I learned that this particular ivory beauty has 8 cyclinders, and a 4,585cc capacity. Seen here in detail are the external side-threaded exhaust pipes.
All Auburn Speedsters were tested to over 100mph by the record breaker Ab Jenkins, as recorded by the autographed plate on the dashboard.
Auburn was one of only two American car manufacturers to actually increase their sales during the great depression of 1931.

We owned a Citroën in the 1990s, but nothing as sleek and beautiful as this 1971 model. It caught my eye on a recent walk. I remember the intriguing way our car rose up when the engine was switched on due to the unique suspension.
I learned that the hydropneumatic suspension system was designed by Paul Magès and fitted to Citroën cars, (as well as being used under licence by other car manufacturers, notably Rolls-Royce (Silver Shadow), Maserati (Quattroporte II) and Peugeot).
