The prairie falcon is the only larger falcon species native strictly to North America. I watched it hunt low to the ground and rocket by my car. It was so nice to see this species again. It is a good winter for raptors in the Vancouver area and also saw 2 nice Gyrfalcons this year.

Haven't seen one near Brunswick Point since 2014. We had one in Pitt Meadows last year. Was a nice treat!

These birds have sharply declined in the area. Both sexes are elegant looking. Taken at Reifel.

This is taken from my archives as the bird was getting scolded by crows he was looking around very annoyed. I was lucky to view this bird with a friend Chris who recently passed away. I will always think of him when I see this lovely species.
