Nine months. That’s the approximate time my local area had decent fog conditions. Until the morning I photographed this shot.
Quite often in the evening, I look at the app I use for weather conditions to see if there is a chance to get some fog in the morning. Many times in these nine months the app suggested the foggy conditions would be around in more or less amount. We didn’t have any of it. Sometimes there was moisture in the air or maybe a weak mist that looked nice in the early morning light, but that was it. The whole Autumn passed with not a single foggy morning in my area. Which was especially annoying as I was looking forward to changing colours season as I always do. Never expected to see a fogless Autumn.
Now, I was walking on my usual trail on the riverside where I spent most of my mornings when I saw about fifty meters in front of me that I was about to enter the foggy cloud, which was not that unusual for the mornings. Many times from a distance I would see similar cloud but when I approach closely I didn’t see any fog. But this time it was different. Quickly I realized that I was about to get surrounded by thick fog and my excitement started to build. At one moment I got on my mind that I don’t think I saw any fog indications the previous night when I looked at my app. I went to check it while I was looking for my composition and saw that no fog was participated. And none of the weather apps forecasted fog. I guess that’s how it goes with it.
I knew where to go for a shot. I was waiting this whole time for conditions like this to go to my most inspiring and productive place where I like to photograph. Suddenly the light came out beaming through the layer of thick fog. It was magical and amazing. I felt this warm delight on my face while looking at the silhouettes of a group of trees in front of me. I gave myself just a few moments to indulge in this scene before I continued my photographic journey that morning.
When I was editing the shot, I wanted to present the scene as close as I could to what it looked like at the time of shooting. So I didn’t feel I wanna warm it more or do any similar manipulations. I wanted to have a reliable memory of a long-anticipated walk in the forest.
