How do I know this to be true? I wear vintage lingerie, and I don't have the COVID 19 infection. Ergo,....

The world is awash with rumors and hoaxes of different 'miracle cures'. Hopefully one or more of the legitimate ones will actually work.

In the meantime, I'll shelter in place wearing fantastic vintage lingerie, like this early 1960s Van Raalte slip with a gored chiffon hem and delicate leaf appliques. Even if it doesn't actually prevent infections, I'll enjoy life so much more wearing it -- whether healthy or sick.

Wearing vintage lingerie fits the definition of a placebo: 'a measure designed merely to calm or please someone'.

One hand on the phone and a thousand-yard stare conveys a mystery. Is she about to make that all important call to the one she wants back in her life, or did she just hang up and wonder if she did the right thing by breaking off the relationship? Or did she just order a medium pizza and wonder if she should have ordered a large? You'll never know, and neither will I.

This is a classic old slip made in Italy, with fantastic embellishments.

This is one of those classic mid-century slips. Seamprufe made this one, but it's similar to other basic yet stylish slips of that era. Crystal pleats on the hem distinguish this one, but so many others have this too. The amazing thing to me is how, after so many decades, these pleats just continue to ....well....pleat! You might say, they compleat me. (sorry for the intentional misspelling. Look, I'm pleating for forgiveness).

Seriously though -- what process and/or chemical did they use to force those pleats to stay pleated for so long? And are they safe for humans to wear for long periods of time??
