While freight transport in the Bavarian chemical triangle was dominated by DB Cargo for a long time, this has changed in the recent past. Some private railway companies now also provide services there. However, documenting this photographically is not easy and you need a pinch of luck. On 29 August 2024, I had such luck and was able to photograph the tank wagon train DGS 69580 from Burghausen to Duisburg Ruhrort Hafen near Niedergeislbach. It was hauled by VTG Retrack's 159 222. I really like the Euro Dual in general and especially in this livery. Here I was able to take a photo of the locomotive christened ‘Lena’ working in diesel mode.

Grand Canyon Railway 6793 brings a short winter train near Red Lake to the south rim on November 11, 1996.
My brother Frank rode the train, I took a cab ride on the way back to Williams, Arizona.
We were PR guests of the GCR, the other day Robert Franzen took us through the shops. I wrote a travel feature for our regional newspaper and included the GCR in an lengthy story about our journey along the Santa Fe, published in the Globetrotter section of the monthly Eisenbahn-Kurier.
