I can hardly believe that I took this shot in May - from memory it was -5C and I stayed around for over an hour waiting for some colour to form in the sky whilst experimenting with compositions and focal lengths. As I drove around a bend approaching Hathersage, on my way to another destination, there it was. A tree sticking out of heavy mist, so I pulled up, found the path - and I was set.

Autumn colours stubbornly hanging on in heavy December fog during our trip back to Derbyshire in the last few days. Lovely to spend time in familiar territory although for some reason I never shot here before. There's always something new if you look again.

Hallin Fell looking like an island resting on the mist shrouded Ullswater, Lake District. Unbelievably a tiny pied wagtail sat on that end post for 30 seconds (exposure time) without moving a feather!
