On the first evening of 2025, the Northern Lights could once again be observed in southern Germany. Here on Lake Constance, fog made it difficult to observe the spectacle, but on the surrounding heights, despite the approaching veil clouds, one could marvel at a SAR (stable aurora red) arc for a long time.

Christmas morning at the wind beeches on the Schauinsland with starburst. The trees had shed some of their heavy white burden, but I still managed to get a few nice photos.

It had snowed in the morning on Christmas Eve and so I hoped to be able to capture the evening twilight over the Biberkopf in a freshly snow-covered landscape on the frozen Kalbelesee near Warth am Arlberg the following day. But in December 2024, snowfall and thaw were close together and unfortunately the spruce trees were already largely free of snow again.

After the summit of the Höchsten was shrouded in icy fog for a day and two nights, the sun reappeared early in the morning. Strong winds repeatedly blew clouds of fog over the summit, creating magical lighting effects on the thickly frosted trees.

This tree presents itself in the early morning, covered in its most beautiful hoarfrost and surrounded by gentle veils of mist, as the first rays of the low sun penetrate the mist.
