A wet day looking for butterflies was fruitless till I spotted this beautiful Comma with it's wonderful wing shapes. The only track I could find vaguely relevant was Flapping your broken wings, by the Handsome Family.

This Large Heath on North Uist was virtually on the beach, feeding on Sea Aster on the salt marsh. It appears quite a lot darker than the moorland ones at higher altitudes.

This was my first photo of a roosting Small Pearl Bordered, taken just before sunset, hence the lovely soft light.
