I seem to find journeys in the car the most emotional times. I was travelling to Devon yesterday and this song came on, and i was in floods of happy tears. I wondered what photograph I could choose to go with it. We never had much money in our life, but often when I went on walks alone I would bring Sue back a piece of driftwood or pocketful of beautiful polished pebbles or small pink cowries. To Susan these were better than the most expensive presents, and she'd always find a special place in the house for them . On some of my sunrise forays on holiday, I 'd pick a posy of flowers to give to her when i returned. This morning on the Isle of Coll I'd picked this selection of honeysuckle , cotton grass and rushes, tied together with a rush bind. A Fistful of Love is by Anthony and the Johnsons, and Sue was always my fistful of love.

It would have been our fortieth wedding Anniversary today, and this beautiful song by Tom Waits has the first line " On our Anniversary " so I had to choose it. I often think of us as just a couple as we were so madly in love but I forget Sue was a fantastic mother to our three daughters , and an adoring Nanna to out two Granddaughters. This was many years ago in Ireland. As we hadn't got much money, we always went to the wild places and forced the girls to walk miles , so there were no gift shops or distractions. It's only later in life they really thanked us for those wonderful holidays , walking endless miles around Scotland Wales and England in the rain :)))

The end of a year that has broken my heart , but also provided so many happy memories. Susan was my reason for living and it's been very hard to come to terms with life without her. It'll be the first New Year I've spent without her , but she's always with me. Thanks so much for all your wonderful friendship love and support , it's helped me so much. It would have been Sue’s birthday today . This photo was taken on one of her birthdays when I took her down the beach after school , and gave her a box of cupcakes . To Sue this was the most wonderful present ever. I was so lucky to have shared my life with someone so wonderful . Keep me in your heart for a while is by Warren Zevon. She’ll always be in my heart .

It would have been Sue's birthday today. I was privileged to spend most of my life with such an amazing and beautiful woman, who was also the funniest very best friend. I can't look back with anything but pride and happiness. She lives on in the hearts of everyone who ever met her. Remember me is by British sea Power.
