jeanneg., who thought scorching hot summer days were unusual in Vienna, inspired me to browse my archive.

This was six years ago.

Unfortunately scorching hot summers in Vienna have been usual for some years. The current temperature is 37°C (98°F). In Bangkok for example it's considerably lower (maximum 31°C).

If you plan to visit Vienna, you should absolutely avoid the summer months!

Donaufelder Pfarrkirche zum hl. Leopold

"Saint Leopold's Church [...] is the Roman Catholic parish church of Donaufeld in Floridsdorf, the 21st district of Vienna, Austria.

Located at Kinzerplatz, it stands at a height of 96 m (315 feet), which makes it the third tallest church in Vienna. Construction was completed in 1914, ten years after the death of its architect, Franz Neumann. My granddaughter Nora (short for Eleonora, two years and four months old, bottom left in the picture) calls me Opa Wolf (Grandpa Wolf). In my arms you see Bea (short for Tabea, six weeks old), my second born granddaughter. She is a very relaxed and somewhat sleepy child.

The beautiful granny next to the painting illustrates quite well its dimensions (178 by 198 centimeters).

Austria’s culture minister also expressed understanding for “the concerns and also the desperation” of the activists, but criticized their form of protest.

“I do not believe that actions like these are purposeful, because the question arises whether they do not rather lead to more lack of understanding than to more awareness of the climate catastrophe,” Andrea Mayer said.
