Large field at the eastern end of Holyoake Avenue, Blackpool N.S. Friday 16 April 2021

At one time this area of land was known locally as the ‘The Circle’. Later on following temporary use as a tip the land was raised up and re-landscaped. This view is looking south towards railway. The area is now part of a woodland walk, community orchard and pond trail. The industrial estate is on the south side of the railway.

Scary electricity pylon and cables, Carleton, Blackpool N.S. Friday 03 July 2020.

While on my Carleton walk today on my way north after I had walked past the horse field I thought I could hear a low flying jet aircraft and this continued for most of the walk, I then suddenly realised it was actually the strong wind blowing through the electricity pylons and overhead cables, it was very scary and spooky. I certainly would not to like walk along this path at night in the dark, wind and rain.

New wooden sculpture, woodland walk, Blackpool. N.S. Friday 20 September 2013

During the summer of 2013 a new wooden sculpture was installed near an entrance to the woodland walk and community orchard part of which passes Higher Moor farm.

This woodland walk is on a part of land belonging to the large farm. Originally part of the farm was planted with fruit trees as a source of food for the farmer and his family. In recent years restoration of the fruit trees has taken place and planting of new local fruit varieties have been added. Fruits found here include Apple, blueberry, elder, pear, plum, raspberry and redcurrant.

The walk links the Bispham and Warbreck areas of Blackpool with Carleton. It also includes a bridle track across a field containing horses and two ponds. The Blackpool to Preston railway line is also nearby and a bridge over the railway forms part of the route. The bridge is to be rebuilt during 2014 as part of the electrification work of the Manchester to Blackpool North railway line.

Carleton Lodge, Carleton, Blackpool. New Year’s Eve, Friday 31 December 2021

Without trespassing in to the grounds of Carleton Lodge it is quite difficult to photograph the frontage of this historic building due to the thick hedgerow running parallel to Blackpool Road so this is the best I could manage until I plan an undercover operation.
