Die Burg Eltz ist eine Höhenburg aus dem 12. Jahrhundert und eine der bekanntesten ihrer Art in Deutschland. Sie liegt auf 129 m ü. NHN im Tal der Elz, einem linken Nebenfluss der Mosel, in der Gemarkung der Ortsgemeinde Wierschem in Rheinland-Pfalz. Seit mehr als 800 Jahren ist das Bauwerk im Besitz der Adelsfamilie Eltz und weitgehend erhalten. Es gehört wie das Schloss Bürresheim und die Burg Lissingen zu den Befestigungsanlagen in der Eifel, die nie gewaltsam erobert wurden.

Eltz Castle is a hilltop castle dating back to the 12th century and one of the most famous of its kind in Germany. It is located at 129 meters above sea level in the valley of the Elz River, a left tributary of the Moselle, within the municipality of Wierschem in Rhineland-Palatinate. The building has been owned by the noble Eltz family for more than 800 years and is largely preserved. Like Bürresheim Castle and Lissingen Castle, it is one of the fortifications in the Eifel region that has never been conquered by force.
