I spent more time than I would have liked shooting honeypot locations in the Lofoten Islands, like this over-photographed yellow house (it's an airbnb if you fancy staying there!) It was rainy and very windy for much of the visit, making beaches and mountains both tricky and miserable. Still, I am pleased with this image - it's actually a spliced shot from 2 visits to the location. On the first occasion there was snow on the foreground but not on the mountain, and the second time there was snow on the mountain but not the foreground.

I went to the Lofoten Islands for snowy cliffs and mountains, but came back with lots of images of man-made features. This shot was actually one of my favourites - reminds me of the Scandi thriller.

The craggy mountains in the Lofoten Islands are full of drama. I was shooting hand-held here in low light at ISO 800 and 200mm focal length. I decided to accentuate the graininess in post.

Everyone has the same shot of Hamnoy in the Lofoten Islands - it's just the weather that changes! You shoot from a bridge, which is actually very tricky in low light as the barrier is too high for most tripods, and your other option is to shoot at a low level between the railings. I didn't fancy that - partly because it was so icy and partly because the northern lights were out (behind me) and, as I'd never seen them before, I didn't want to waste a lot of time faffing around with settings and tripods. So this is a hand-held 3 second exposure with my iphone. I'm not sure I'd have done much better with my Z5!
