The Salar de Uyuni in the Andes in southwest Bolivia is the largest salt pan on earth. A prehistoric, dried-up lake almost 11,000 m².
Larger in area than e.g. Lower Bavaria. The brine under the surface reaches up to 72m, possibly 121m in depth. With glistening brightness, it resembles a frozen lake, almost devoid of any kind of living creatures.
