There was a light fog over the wetlands in a February several years ago. I saw this Wood Duck and took the time to get closer without alarming him. The fog had been burning off and suddenly a soft sun beam settled right on his head and his colors just lit up. It's still one of my favorite Wood Duck photos.

Mating season is starting and this male Hooded Merganser decided another male was getting too close to a female he was courting. The female ignored the both and swam away!

She was grooming herself for almost an hour on this log. Perhaps wanting to look her best for mating season. One of several shots I liked.

This female Hooded Merganser was off from the other ducks and seemed to be enjoying the solitude.
