It took me three years to capture the photo of the Harvest full moon in October. The first year it rained, the second year it was cloudy, and in the third year nature decided to cooperate with me. The last light of sunset was falling on the summit of Mt Hood while the harvest moon was rising over the Cascade mountain range. About thirty seconds later the sun set light was off the summit and the mountain faded into the smokey haze looking only like a light shadow of itself.

January is one of the wettest months of the rainy season in Oregon. This year we broke the 1948 record of 17 straight days with no rain in January with 18 days. This unusual break in the weather combined with the low angle of the winter sun created an opportunity to go to wetlands in the Portland area and catch some good light on the ducks. A female Mallard.
