A Little Is Enough - Pete Townshend

www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WjDpIv905s

Just like a sailor heading into the seas
There's a gale blowing in my face
The high winds scare me but I need the breeze
And I can't head for any other place

Life would seem so easy on the other tack
But even a hurricane won't turn me back
You might be an island
On the distant horizon
But the little I see
Looks like heaven to me
I don't care if the ocean gets rough
Just a little is enough

For Meg.
The world is a brighter place for you having been in it.
We will miss you, always.

Humans From Earth - T- Bone Burnett
www.youtube.com/watch?v=nC1rCrB8pq0

We come from a blue planet
light-years away.
Where everything multiplies
at an amazing rate.
We're out here in the universe
buying real estate
Hope we haven't gotten here too late

We're humans from earth
We're humans from earth
You have nothing at all to fear
I think we're gonna like it here

We're looking for a planet
with atmosphere.
Where the air is fresh
and the water clear.
With lots of sun
like you have here.
Three or four hundred days a year

Bought Manhattan
for a string of beads.
Brought along some gadgets
for you to see.
Here's a crazy little thing
we call TV.
Do you have electricity?

We're humans from earth
We're humans from earth
You have nothing at all to fear
I think we're gonna like it here

I know we may seem
pretty strange to you.
But we got know-how
and a golden rule.
We're here to see
manifest destiny through.
Ain't nothing we can't get used to

We're humans from earth.

Hell In a Bucket - Grateful Dead

Well I was drinkin' last night with a biker
And I showed him a picture of you
I said, "Pal get to know her, you'll like her"
Seemed like the least I could do.

Cause when he's chargin' his chopper
Up and down your carpeted halls
You won't think it by contrast quite proper
Never mind how I stumble and fall.

You imagine me sipping champagne from your boot
For a taste of your elegant pride
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe
But at least I'm enjoying the ride, at least I'll enjoy the ride.

Aw you're a sweet little softcore pretender
Somehow, baby got hard as it gets
With your black leather chrome spiked suspenders
And your chair and your whip and your pets

Well we know you're the reincarnation
Of the ravenous Catherine the Great
And we know how you love your ovations
To the Z-rated scenes you create.

You imagine me sipping champagne from your boot
For a taste of your elegant pride
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe
But at least I'm enjoying the ride, at least I'll enjoy the ride.

Postcard Day - Ian Anderson
www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkmSAMUMVdU

Photo taken at Le Monde Perdu, Second Life
maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Le%20Monde%20Perdu/51/193/36

My eyes are white circles
above cheekbones on fire:
Pale hand gripping my pen.
Rounding up to the zero,
adding infinite fractions,
Letting nine become ten.

Two pink doves strut the shingles
Picking crumbs from the breakfast I saved
For you dear. and I wish you were here
On this postcard day.

Focus on the fine
indeterminate line
Where the sky meets the sea.
Desperate midweek words,
banal and absurd
Freely flow out of me.

Well, I may be a hostage to summer
But I'm a hostage, not a slave.
And I'm clear that I wish you were here
On this postcard day.

Precious cargo of flotsam:
mixed memories on an ocean tide
Swim madly with spice from the orient
On a mystery watery carpet ride.
But with the sun going down,
the wind goes around;
Blows them back out of mind.

My eyes are white circles
staring down past the point
Of my restless pen.
While the ghosts of my youth
all sworn to the truth
Call my name again.

Two brown legs don't make a summer.
But two brown arms couldn't keep me away.
Well, my dear, I wish you were here
On this postcard day.
