Davide Direnzo is really fun to watch behind drum set. He had his whole family in the first row (3 daughters). Adrean Farrugia was on piano, Rich Moore - guitar and Ross MacIntyre on bass at the 'Supermaket'. The quartet had fun on stage and the audience had a good time because of it.

Davide Direnzo is really fun to watch behind drum set. He had his whole family in the first row. The little drummer girl on his knees is one of his daughters, who gave a bit encore performance.

BRANDI DISTERHEFT may not be as flashy and well known as Esperanza Spalding, but they are in the same league. Both play the bass well, sing and possibly even dance, just not on stage. Oscar Peterson had an high opinion of her, when she came on the scene and she keeps the high standard. JUNO Award winner for Traditional Jazz for her Debut album, she is based in New York City and occasionally plays in Toronto. She even writes songs, one which is kind of unusual: "A Letter to the CEO of Goldman Sachs".
Brandi Disterheft brought from NYC her drummer Chris Beck and piano player Anthony Wonsey. Usually she just picks from her friends Toronto musicians.

Matt Zimbel is a percussionist and founding member of Manteca, one of the more famous Canadian jazz ensembles. I am not even sure if he had chosen his name or his name determinated his musical career. He only has two hands, but somehow manages to hit 6 noisemakers at once. (In English, cimbalom is also known as struck zither or hammered dulcimer.) Btw; His father was photographer, so his family name probably did not play a role shaping his future.
