Each spring, the Palm Warbler (Setophaga palmarum) is one of the earliest of the wood-warblers to arrive back in NY state where I lived for years.
I did not hear them sing nearly as often as I did the other members of their family, but their bright yellow color was a very welcome sight in early- to mid-April!

This Tennessee Warbler (Leiothlypis peregrina) had flown into a window, but had survived. I and a child were able to move it to some grass and eventually watched it fly away!
Unfortunately, not many birds this size (10 gram weight) live through a collision with a window.

A Lesser Yellowlegs (Tringa flavipes) in a flooded field on the Tennessee River. Global Big Day, May 11, 2024.
Myself and a couple of friends (including children) were treated to a very good view of this individual before it rejoined its companion on the other side of a large grassy puddle.
