To my friends on Flickr: I may be absent a lot for the next month. I have been called to Jury Duty, and it is going to mess with my normal schedule tremendously. If I don't have time to comment on your photos... that's why. But I will always look at them.

Now... why Binder Clips? Well...
I joined a group called 100x, where you promise to post 100 photos of... whatever you want. Macros? Landscapes? Square Format?
I chose Focus Stacking shots.

I am still experimenting with my new camera, and I am also scouting around for things to photograph for next month's group "February Alphabet Fun 2025". I need to get a lot of the photos done ahead of time because of the Jury Duty.

So, I was taking photos for the Alphabet, and I took a focus stacked shot of these binder clips in a plastic tub. But then it turned out I already had one for the letter "B".

So, I thought I would just put this one up as my second offering of the 100 Focus Stacked Shots.

Nothing special, but it fits the requirement.

A summery decoration left out in the snow... it made itself known, above the heap of snow on the flowerpot!

This is from a couple of weeks ago, when we had 13 inches of snow fall all at once. I liked this high contrast version of the evening light on the deep snow, out in our field.
There are so many critters who live here, it is hard to find untouched snow, even just hours after the snowfall. A deer had plowed through this patch, at the upper edge.

Another shot from the Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum this past autumn. This one had a LOT of details, and it turned out to look much better simplified. SO here's a painterly version of it, for Slider's Sunday group.

Happy Slider's Sunday, HSS!

I watch the turkeys parading around in the 15 inches of snow we have received in the past 6 days, and I wonder how they, and all the tiny birds too, can stay warm.

Here is a Turkey feather... a downy feather... just one feather, about an inch and a quarter across.... they have hundreds of these, all layered right next to their skin. So do the little birds (only tinier down feathers of course ).
You can see the end of the tiny shaft on the right, and then the feather curls around so you see the "top" of the feather curling in at the left.

In Spring, they shed these downy feathers by the bushel.

I finally got my new camera to do the automatic focus stacking photos without any glitches. 30 shots were taken and put together in Helicon Focus.

My contacts might know I have done focus stacking before, but I always took the images manually, which meant the increments between the differently focused shots were made by me twisting a knob... so the steps were never perfect, and even.
Now, with my new camera, the increments are perfectly spaced.

So, since it was a success, I thought I'd put this image up today. Thanks again, Tom!

I have also just joined a group called 100 x: The 2025 Edition, where you put up 100 photos, all which meet a theme of your choice. I chose Focus Stacking. So I guess you'll be seeing a lot of these... although I can Focus Stack on any type of shot, Landscapes etc, as long as I have my tripod.
