Great Northern Rwy. dining car 1251, the Lake Wenatchee hangs out as CSX train I009 (North Bergen, NJ, to Bedford Park, IL, hotshot trailers/stacks) highballs by the depot in downtown North East, Pennsylvania on CSX's former LS&MS/NYC/PC/CR Erie West Sub.
North East is home to the Lake Shore Railway Historical Society who has an impressive collection and display of rolling stock, both the passenger and freight depots, and a few other cool items such as a crossing watchman's tower that shows in the distance.
NS' Lake Erie District is located parallel to CSX's and is off to the right.

A historic church in Central Florida, constructed in 1926, owes its existence to the pioneering efforts of African-American families from northern Florida and Georgia. The original church, built in 1896, fell victim to fire.
Its historic significance has been acknowledged through its inclusion on the Register of Historic Places. Reviewing old photographs reveals that the church's foundation was once surrounded by a dense array of shrubs; however, upon my arrival, I was met with disappointment as they had been removed. That concludes my observations.
Are you endeavoring to locate additional abandoned schoolhouses or churches in Florida? Be prepared to face challenges, as the state's rapid population growth has led to the demolition of numerous historic structures to make way for new developments. Having visited Florida annually since 1994, I can attest to the state's rapid growth and increasing traffic congestion, which presents a stark contrast to the more relaxed pace of life in the Midwest.

Wilsons phalorope is a fairly common spring and summer visitor here in North Dakota and I discovered this male and female pair along one of the US Forest Service roads in the Little Missouri National Grasslands this past spring (6-8-2024). They were doing a bit of bathing and wading in a relatively small pool along one of the intermittent creeks in this semi-arid region. Spring in North Dakota is always a welcome sight and once the ice clears from the waters and everything becomes green, every little pothole and puddle seems to fill with a variety of birds and wildlife.
