Just back from a wonderful trip through Arizona. we drove over 1000 miles from Phoenix to Grand Canyon to Monument Valley to Sedona and back to Phoenix. During that time we hiked, climbed rocks, went 4x4 offroading and horseback riding. And saw so many beautiful vistas and sights it was truly hard to appreciate them all.

Great trip! Many more photos to come.

This beautiful yellow columbine was found along the Verde River, by the canal that channels the run off from Montezuma's Well.

Montezuma Well was formed long ago by the collapse of a limestone cavern.. over one million gallons of water a day flows continuously into the Well. This constant supply of warm, fresh water provides an aquatic habitat like no other in the world, and has served as an oasis for wildlife and humans for thousands of years.

Elk at Grand Canyon National Park. Along with its famous canyon geology, there is an amazing diversity of plant and animal life that thrives in this high desert environment. We saw lots of elk singly and in herds.

Monument Valley in Arizona/ Utah---- gorgeous rock formations everywhere. This was a sunrise that we watched for quite awhile......

The Mittens are two formations that appear to be a right and left mitten. This is one of the pair--called East Mitten.
