This mated pair of great blue herons was quite active: each time one of them would bring in a new stick for their nest they would engage in a feisty exchange like the one shown here. Not sure what the action represented but some of the "headbutts" looked too close for comfort to me with those sharp-pointed beaks!

Of all the times we've been to Green Cay Wetlands this was the first time that we've seen a wood duck there. There was actually a beautiful pair of wood ducks, which I'll post later.

Just back from an amazing trip to "The Promise Land" for wading bird photography -- south Florida -- where we had the pleasure of viewing and photographing numerous wading and land birds. This "Greenie" with-prey was a regular at this spot and gave us many extended views, including some nice fishing action.
