In summer near solstice, the sun shines on the north face of mighty Denali.

Since the beginning of human history, this mighty mountain has been called 'Denali.'

The name 'Denali' comes from “deenaalee,” which in the Koyukon language means 'the tall one,' 'big mountain', and 'the great one.'

The Koyukon are a people of Athabaskans (also known as Dena), who settled in the interior area north of the mountain and have been there for ten thousand years.
