Recent cloudy weather precluded enjoying the high incidence of northern lights, and when the skies did clear the northern lights were faint and faded, though still there.

There have been forecasts of strong, active aurora recently, but we have been under cloudy skies during those times. The one night that remained mostly clear, the aurora were weak, faint and had strong competition from the very bright full moon.
The moon casts it's glow on the tree trunks much of the night until it set, then the land went dark until just a few hours later, dawn light out-shone all other celestial light.

These are among the toughest little garden flowers I've ever seen. All other flowers are long gone, killed by hard frosts down to 17°F (-8°C) but they continue to look fresh and pretty.
