Every now and then, there is a wild rose with such deep intense color, among the 'regular' bubblegum pink. Sometimes there will also be an almost white rose. Funny thing is, they can all be on the same plant.

Aka bogbean (Menyanthes trifoliata) blooming in a shallow oxbow lake. Frilly 5-petaled blossoms, and as the Latin name indicates, large three ovate leaves.

I must keep this Oxalis oregana in the shade all the time, or it will fold up it's leaves as defense against too much sunlight.

This one is a long way from it's natural home, under the redwoods of California.
