Fresh snow, 12-13 inches (30-33cm) clinging to every twig and branch, not a sound in the hushed woods except the occasional bird and squirrel, and the crunch of my boots in the snow.

Rapid movement of the northern lights across the dome of the night sky, probably after the apex of activity.

This is quite a long time lapse of some 800+ images, covering a time span from around 2 am to 5 am.

Just managed to capture the northern lights on a 50:50 cloudy night. Corona appears as a curtain from straight above, with rays coming down directly overhead.

The pinkish clouds are glowing from light pollution, produced from 2-3 lights that illuminate the junction of two major Alaska roadways, a couple of miles away.

Rokinon 12 mm 2.8 manual fisheye lens.

I just happened to step out onto the deck, to see if the snow predicted in our Winter Weather Advisory was happening yet, and I saw surprising corona northern lights, before it was truly dark.
I had to darken this photo, purely for aesthetic reasons, so the curtain of corona overhead would be better seen.
