Male northern yellow shafted flicker has been testing several suitable 'hammer sites' along with his loud calling, to establish with other males that this is his territory, while also hoping to lure a female to his choice of summer home.

This is the only birdhouse he has actually gone inside, and began throwing stuff out.

One of the very earliest of the far north wildflowers to bloom.

These were easy to transplant from the wild, and naturalized very nicely into my flower garden.
