Is how Google AI describes the song of the Dartford Warbler. I won't start reminiscing on how that also describes an old girlfriend :-).
I wasn't expecting to see any at the weekend, but the recent warm weather must have worked it's magic and this chap was proudly singing to defend his prime territory and of course attract a mate.
The gorse suffered die back last year in this area - but is thankfully starting to make a recovery as you can see in the shot.

The female parent tries to squeeze out of the nest after feeding four of her owlets.
I have been supporting this adult pair and their families over the last three years as part of an owl conservation project in Exmoor National Park, UK. All four owlets from the 2024 brood successfully made it to autumn migration.

Two tawny owlets have a bath in a woodland pool on a summer's evening.
These owlets were part of a brood of four raised by an adult pair in 2024, which I have been working with over the last three years as part of an owl conservation project in Exmoor National Park, UK. All four owlets successfully made it to autumn migration.

This old guy looks scarred and broken, but in fact he's very well cared for at Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre in Dorset, UK.
There was very low light in his den but the sun shone allowing me to capture his portrait through the glass.
Just wonder what his thoughts might be.
