I do like that you can use the Pixel 8 Pro to do 'macro' but still retain a huge depth of field to show the context of the subject.

When I was growing up there was pretty much no chance of seeing a Marsh Harrier in the UK, with only 1 breeding pair left by 1971 (Minsmere).

As a small boy in the industrial North East I would marvel at the exotic and unattainable species in my collection of Ladybird Book of Birds.

Thankfully habitat rescue and changes to farming pesticide use have allowed them to recover to the point where they are a fairly common sight, at least in the marshes and fens of East Anglia.

Taken from the river bank when this female unexpectedly emerged in front of me.

Taken a few years ago, but at this time of year when the bill takes on it's gunmetal grey colour (it is ivory white in winter).

The 2 in the front are male, the one at the back female (grey secondary patch) and overall less 'bling'.
