The cover to the 1957 edition of the longstanding "Official Handbook of the West Yorkshire Road Car Company" that gives details of places, destinations and attractions served by the company's stage and express services as well as options for day trips and excursions. The Harrogate based West Yorkshire company was formed in that town in 1906 and during the 1930s, as part of the Tilling Group and with railway investment, it became the dominant operator across large areas of west and north Yorkshire. In 1948, when Tilling sold their bus interests to the British Transport Commission the company became nationalised. Following agreements reached in the 1930s with the respective local authorities, the WYRCC also managed and operated the associated Keighley-West Yorkshire Services and the York-West Yorkshire Joint Services.
The handbook was issued over many years along with the official timetables.

The majority of these were seasonal running only int he summer months but a few, mostly of shorter duration, were all-year operation. The brochure opens into a map, a list of principal services (some of which were lengthy serving routes of up to nearly 300km and taking 11 hours) and details of the fares and tickets. There is also a list of Swiss tourist offices abroad where details about services could be obtained.
The cover was, as had previously been the case, designed by Bernard Reber.
