The Type 35 was introduced in 1926 following a racing rule change limiting engine capacity to 1.5 liters. Bugatti then reduced the bore of the existing Type 35 engine from 60mm to 52mm. To compensate for the displacement, a light Roots type supercharger was added to the engine. This car started an era of blown Bugattis that would last up to the Type 57.

In order remain competitive in Formula Libre events, such as the Targa Floria the Type 35B was realeased with a larger displacement 2267cc engine and a larger capacity Roots supercharger.

The chassis remained mainly unchanged. brake drum and tyre sizes were increased.

Two of these were built basically as prototypes. The chassis design is along the lines of the type 35, but it is the engine configuration that makes this design so unusual. The 16 cylinder 3.9 litre is made up of two banks of 8 cylinders with two crankshafts. A simular system had been used by Bugatti in there WW1 fighter planes. Two Rootes Superchargers were mounted at the rear of the engine, one for each bank of cylinders. The weakness was the gear coupling that coupled the two crankshafts that was needed to allow the two crankshafts to turn in the same direction.
Though unsuccessful in Grand prix racing the cars won Hillclimbs at Klausen and Bernina in 1930

BUGATTI SET

The Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo is a single-seater concept car, designed by Achim Anscheidt, Sasha Selipanov, Etienne Salome, and Frank Heyl and unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motorshow. Built under the Vision Gran Turismo project, and with its looks, influenced the Bugatti Chiron's design language
The Vision Gran Turismo contains an 8.0 L quad-turbocharged W16 engine, heavily modified, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, delivering the power to asll four wheels, its top speed has never been measured in real terms, but simulator tests suggest the figure to be 278mph (447 KMph)

The car uses the pre-production Bugatti Chiron chassis #6. and makes extensive use of carbon fibre for the body and the independant suspension. Many aerodynamic features, primarily carbon fibre, are present along the Vision Gran Turismo body, with a LMP1-style sharkfin and active rear wing, large front splitter, side air intakes, multiple NACA ducts, and DTM-style dive planes. The colour scheme of the car is based on the 1937 Le Mans-winning Bugatti Type 57G Tank racer.

Only one Vision Gran Turismo exists, currently owned by Hezy Shaked, Chairman and CSO of US retail clothing chain Tillys

The cars price is estimated somewhere in the huge gulf between $ 5,160,000 US to $ 18,000,000

Many thanks for a fantabulous

Bugatti Badge
Bugatti was founded in Molsheim, France by Ettore Bugatti an Italian imigrant. The company produced expensive, and in the case of the Royalle some of the most exclusive bespoke cars in the world. The T35's and T51's were amongst the most sucessful voiterette racing cars.
Bugatti also produced aircraft engines and the engines for French rail cars.

The badge not only bears the name Bugatti but the initials of Ettore Bugatti with an inverted E.

Anyone interested in these cars must one day make a pilgrimage to Molsheim and visit the fantastic Museum (formerly Schlump collection) which houses probably the gratest single collection of Bugatti in the world.
