I've been involved in running indoor bicycle roller races since the 1970's. The race format is similar to match sprinting on the track. All races are a standing start mile, which equates to 10 laps on the clock.
Each rider does a time trial, and the times are used for seeding. The fastest rider goes up against the slowest, and the pairings work inwards from there. The winning riders advance to the next round.
The riders in these pictures and videos are just warming up. The actual races can be pretty exciting. I wish that I was able to show you that, but I'm the master of ceremonies, so I have to focus on counting down the laps.
