Taken at WWT Slimbridge
These are not common in the UK. These Cranes were bred at Slimbridge and released into the wild on the Somerset levels as part of a breeding programme. We were very pleased to see four Cranes turn up at Slimbridge and they appear to be building a nest quite close to the hide. We noticed that this bird has a transmitter on its leg

This is a wild Crane with no leg rings or tracking tag taken at WWT Slimbridge from the Zeiss Hide.
It was hanging around with up to 7 other cranes who were all tagged as part of The Great Crane Project and released on the Somerset Levels
