This very "English Church" scene is located in the centre of the village of Pangbourne in Berkshire. The Church is only one of twenty six places of worship in the country to be dedicated to St James the Less.
The first Church on this site was built some time prior to 1175 and rebuilt around the time of the Restoration in 1660. The brick tower was added in 1718 with the nave and chancel completely rebuilt in 1865.

The Swan Inn is a busy 17th century pub and restaurant located in a lovely location alongside Pangbourne Weir on the River Thames.
The Inn dates from circa 1642 and was mentioned in the Victorian novel Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome. The book was a humorous account of a boating holiday on the Thames, with two friends and a dog called Montmorency, between Kingston and Oxford.
I think today is the first time I have passed The Swan and there have been no vehicles parked immediately in front of the building - so took the opportunity to grab a photograph!

I used to pass this thatched cottage on my way to and from work each day. Now wish I had photographed it a few years ago when it was refurbished and re thatched. A missed opportunity!

Unusual and nice combination of brickwork and timber on a house located inside Windsor Castle. The castle itself is almost 1,000 years old and the largest occupied castle in the world. It is an official residence of Queen Elizabeth II and visited by around a million tourists each year.
