This photograph is of the lovely Cotswold village of Lower Slaughter in Gloucestershire.
The village is quiet and does not seem to be as badly affected by tourism as some other villages in the Cotswolds. This may have something to do with the fact that access roads are rather narrow and not totally suited to coach traffic. Parking is also more limited than other places which is a bonus to those wishing to fully appreciate the location.
The water in the foreground is the River Eye which also runs through the nearby village of Upper Slaughter and eventually into the River Dikler.

These cottages in the Cotswold village of Bibury, Gloucestershire were built in 1380, originally as a monastic wool store but converted into weavers cottages in the 17th century. The cloth produced there was then passed to the nearby Arlington Mill for final finishing.
Arlington Row is probably one of the most visited and photographed Cotswold locations and it was quite a wait before I could take this photograph. The cottages are in the care of the National Trust who actually rent one of them out for holidaymakers.
Since 2010, an image of Arlington Row cottages has appeared on the inside cover of all newly-issued UK passports.

First saw these two characters cautiously investigating three mallard ducks that had appeared in their field near Snowshill Manor in Gloucestershire.
Unfortunately before I could get my camera out of the bag their mother called them and they immediately ran for her protection. After a few minutes the pair wandered back to the spot where the ducks were but to their disappointment they had gone. Ahh!

The Old Mill is located alongside the River Eye in the lovely Cotswold village of Lower Slaughter in Gloucestershire.
A mill was recorded on this site in the Domesday Book, compiled for William the Conqueror in 1086. The present structure is much more recent and contains a museum, café and shop.

This property was given to the National Trust in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade, an eccentric man who amassed an massive collection of objects that simply interested him.
The house was built in the 16th century and is not the biggest National Trust property we have visited and the front of the building is not overly impressive. However, the inside is amazing - it is literally full to capacity with so many items that it is difficult to take it all in. A worthwhile visit!
This photograph was taken from the orchard and shows the side elevation of the house.
