The location of the previous photo that I posted is so special, rating right up there with our all time favorite "fairy forest" that we decided to build a little stone totem to commemorate our visit and Anita takes the photo for the memories. Happy Sabbath to all !

Otherwise known as the
Gaudineer Scenic Area. It lies near the crest of Shavers Mountain immediately north of Gaudineer Knob, the mountain's highest peak at 4,432 feet (1,351 m). The Scenic Area itself is at about 4,000 feet (1,200 m). Its total land area is 140 acres (570,000 m2) and approximately 50 acres (200,000 m2) of the area is classified as virgin red spruce forest. That's the technical stuff. The story of how this tract of land was not clear cut is interesting but to us it will always be the Fairy Forest. It's a short drive to where we had our now infamous camping experience. It's very quiet in this place because everything is covered in moss with some large patches of ferns.

From the Greenbrier Resort we were out driving around and stumbled on the Sweet Springs resort. It is currently under renovation but it's history was as rich or richer than that of Greenbrier. And Anita, being Anita avoided one gate that said "Beware of Dog" going on to the next gate and there were several substantial brick buildings and out comes this dog. Wagging his tail and looking totally happy to see us! We met the man who owned all this resort and was heading up it's restoration. This was his dog and his name was Beau... a beautiful German Shepard that was actually imported from Germany. Such a sweet natured animal and perfectly friendly! We spent a wonderful time there, exploring around the resort and chatting with the owner and Anita playing with Beau (of course!) Have a blessed Sabbath day everyone! :)

Anita and I and another friend had been to see this bridge in West Virginia several years ago, but at that time we did not know about the loop road that will take you to the bottom of the gorge. I think we are about half way down here.
Per Google: At time of construction, the New River Gorge Bridge's arch made it the longest steel arch bridge in the world, a title it held until 2003 with the construction of China's Shanghai's Lupu Bridge. It is currently the longest single-span steel arch bridge in the United States and the third highest bridge in the country.
I liked the visual I saw on a sign there, you could put the Washington Memorial monument under it and put two Statue of Liberties on top of that and you would still not reach the bottom of the bridge!
I left two chicken eggs on the rock. Why you ask? Because I discovered them in my purse! Seriously. Sometimes when I shut the chickens in at night & check for eggs, I am stopping on my way to the house and have my vehicle. So for safe keeping I place them in my purse and I guess I totally forgot they were there. Kept them fairly safe for a Long time! This was day two of our camping trip! LOL

A happy mural in the city of Elkins West Virginia. Located right on the edge of the Monongahela National Forest, it's a quaint city and where we wound up for lunch on our final day of camping and before we reluctantly turned ourselves east towards home.
