I have never set foot on Wilnecote Station but judging from newer pictures I have seen it has changed considerably.
Gone are the charming ornate brick buildings in favour of draughty bus shelters. The neat and unusual "Gentlemans" with its neat row of fire buckets has long gone. On Peters platform the shelter in this picture has the look of a disused garden shed, a bus shelter is an improvement in this case. The station is gas lit with a BR "Wilnecote" totem on each lamp post. The ticket office is at road level, a neat wooden chalet.
Leaving the station is a Cravens class 105 working a Birmingham to Derby train, the station porteris walking past the train, it would seem nobody got off and what a step down it would have been, the platform is much too low.
We do not have a date for this picture, the DMU has electrification flashes so perhaps the mid 1960's?
