With the demolition of the cooling towers already done it was the turn of the boiler chimneys shortly after. Although designed to fall away from the railway line the West Coast was still shut just in case they went the wrong way.

The very rare sight of Westwood power station with a single chimney. This view was only available for a minute or so in May 1989. In fact I think the charges had gone off when I released the shutter here, it was just deciding to start to fall.

Statrting to topple, the remaining chimney goes in the right direction. Looks like it will be a good day for the West Coast Main Line.
