81014 dropping down into Wigan, viewed from the foot crossing.

This is Whitley Crossing if you're local or Rylands Crossing if you're railway. Whitley was the name of a school to the right of the photo. The foot crossing was a walking route for school kids.

Needless to say the option of standing next to the ballast as trains storm past at nearly 100mph has now been curtailed. A footbridge has now been put up along with an expanse of high fences.

81010 stands at Preston on 27 May 1987. Looking very ex works it seems Shields Road hasn't got around to affixing the aforementioned piscean vinyl.
