Soon after leaving Oxley sidings GWR Modified Hall 4-6-0 No. 6965 THIRLESTAINE HALL emerges from beneath the Stour Valley viaduct at Dunstall Park with an up goods train on 16th January 1965. Just visible through the arch on the left are the closed Stafford Road sheds and workshops.

A shot that is under-exposed and blurred but has, I think, sufficient historical merit to be worthy of uploading.

LMS Ivatt Class 4MT 2-6-0s 43063 and 43119, from Heaton Mersey and Trafford Park respectively, laying over at Oxley whilst en route to Eastleigh for overhaul. 17th January 1965.

Following reallocation to North Blyth in August 1966. 43063 achieved celebrity status when, together with 43000, it worked the Wansbeck Piper railtour of 2nd October 1966 to mark the closure of the remaining Morpeth to Woodburn section of the Wansbeck Valley Railway.
