This is my second Brocken Spectre in two months. Ah, the advantages of being retired and I can take to the hills whenever I like! And I also saw some ptarmigan. However, the weather conditions at 700m were pretty dicey with a good breeze that put Storm Ashley to shame!

The Howgill Fells is an impressive group of hills in Cumbria in northern England, bounded approximately by a triangle drawn between Sedbergh, Kirkby Stephen and Tebay. These days all of the Howgill Fells fall within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. In several places they rise to well over 2,000 feet above sea level.
