This is my second Brocken Spectre in two months. Ah, the advantages of being retired and I can take to the hills whenever I like! And I also saw some ptarmigan. However, the weather conditions at 700m were pretty dicey with a good breeze that put Storm Ashley to shame!

I hadn't been up Beinn Bhan since before Covid and it was such a pleasure to be up there again. Of course the view from the summit has not changed and the little lochans in Coire na Poite are such a delight to see from above.
The most striking difference, in my view, is that I did not see a living soul all day. This was always the busiest hill in Applecross (I've been up many times in the past) so I couldn't help but wonder where all the hill walkers and climbers had gone.

This was taken around lunchtime so the sun was high in the sky - hence the angle. It was mist and rain most of the day but the sun came out for about 10 minutes so I rushed to the rim of the corrie and was rewarded with this!

I did not intend to adopt a lamb this year, but who could allow little Elbow to starve? Not me! She's a girl.
